Given its adjacency to the Arts Grounds area of the UVA campus, the garage was formerly referred to as the Arts Grounds Parking Deck. Now the Culbreth Ave Parking Deck at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, the design of the garage responds to its context, the site conditions, and functional requirements. The two-bay parking structure is located parallel to the CSX railroad tracks. The parking structure provides a buffer between the railroad tracks and the Drama School building. The design of the parking structure takes advantage of the site's topography by setting the structure at an elevation that minimizes the apparent mass of the structure as seen from the Arts Grounds. Greenscreen panels act as trellises for flowering vines which soften the edge of the garage facing west and facing south to the Drama School building.
