SKA provided architecture and green design consulting services for the construction of this new educational facility. This flexible classroom facility provides a working example of green building materials and systems for Maryland homeowners. Sustainable practices include: On site renewable energy sources - photovoltaics & wind; Local and regional materials; Recycled content materials; Reclaimed materials; Rapidly renewable materials; an energy efficient building envelope; energy efficient lighting & control systems; low V.O.C. products; water efficient plumbing fixtures; energy star rated appliances; and stormwater management systems, including: rain barrels, cisterns, & rain gardens.
